Residents may register to vote at any time at the Town Office. However, on Election Day, proof of residence in West Gardiner is required if you wish to register to vote that day. Absentee ballots are available for all elections and can be requested by telephone, mail, or in person. You may also vote absentee in person before the Town Clerk.

Persons with special needs should notify the Town Clerk in advance of any election or Town Meeting so that proper accommodations can be made.

As of 2014, the entire Town of West Gardiner is now part of Senate District 14 and House District 84.  
Senate District 14 includes Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Readfield, West Gardiner, and Winthrop.
House District 84 also includes Hallowell, Manchester, and West Gardiner.
