Letter from Selectman Couture about revaluation

To the residents of West Gardiner,

I will preface this letter by stating that I do not have a facebook account nor do I ever intend to. As such, I do not know the exact wording but have heard the general jest.

The Town Office received a number of calls yesterday asking what is going on in West Gardiner. Upon asking, the ladies learned that Mr. Gary Hickey II had posted on his facebook account that he was getting prices to convert, what has been designed and built to date, the Historical Society building into a combined Town Office/Historical building. I would like to clarify this.

Mr. Hickey was asked last Thursday evening to talk to a contractor he trusted and get a price to convert that building into a Town Office only. He had mentioned doing both but that was not the request. No doubt all of the conversations will be had in their proper location, which is on Thursday evening at the Town Office.

First, all 3 of the Selectboard members need to be shaking their heads in the same direction at the same time.

Second, at the correct time, there will probably be a Town Hall meeting to inform the residents of the consensus of the Board and why.

As always, if you have questions on what someone may post on facebook about happenings in town, please call the office and ask to get clarification.

Thank you, Gregory Couture Chair, Selectboard
